We will begin our tour by visiting the Giza Plateau. Here we will walk between the Great Pyramid of Khufu and the Pyramid of Khefre, the middle pyramid. Then we will visit the panorama where you will be able to see and take pictures of all three pyramids. Once you have spent enough time with the pyramids, we will head down to visit the Guardian of the Giza Plateau, the Sphinx. Walk through the Valley Temple with its megalithic blocks. With its head of a man and body of a lion, many Egyptologists believe the face. of the Sphinx is that of King Khefre, but is it? Saqqara was the ancient royal burial grounds for when the Egyptian capital was in Memphis. To this day, it is still revealing what lies buried in the sand. Arrive Aswan The first stop is Philae Temple, an ancient complex central to the ancient religious world and a favorite topic and location for ancient writers. For the second stop, we will step away from temples and visit an ancient obelisk. The one we will visit is the unfinished Obelisk, which is also the largest ancient obelisk that was constructed. Our stop on the cruise today is the Kom Ombo Temple. The Kom Ombo Temple is a unique and somewhat uncommon double temple. One half of the temple is dedicated to the crocodile god, Sobek, who represents fertility. The other half is dedicated to the falcon god, Horus. There will be plenty of time to explore this temple and appreciate everything about it. Sail to Edfu, This temple was built to honor Horus, the falcon god, the same god one half of the Kom Ombo Temple is dedicated to. One of the unique parts of this temple is how important the inscriptions are. Not only are they beautiful, but they provide a very crisp view into religion, temples, and life in ancient Egypt. A full day of sightseeing today! You will be visiting some the most amazing places in Egypt. We will begin by visiting the Valley of the Kings, home to the tombs of 63 pharaohs and nobles. Some of the tombs are open to the public so you can walk among temples to living Gods. Your Egyptoria guide will lead you to locations on the West Bank of the Nile River where, for over 500 years, pharaohs and nobles were laid to rest. When we arrive at the Hatshepsut Temple you first go through the cliffs at Deir el Bahari, which seem to dwarf this stunning temple. Its size will amaze you. Located near the Valley of the Kings, this temple was used as a mortuary temple built to honor Pharaoh Hatshepsut. Our last stop of the day is the Colossi of Memnon. These massive statues set on a stunning backdrop of Egyptian terrain. The columnal statues were stone portraits of Pharaoh Amenhotep III. Cruise Disembarkation The Karnak Temple is the second most visited historic place in Egypt after the pyramids. Called the most revered place in Ancient Egypt is located on the eastern bank of the Nile River, opposite Luxor. In ancient Egypt, the construction of the temples always began at the sanctuary, which means that Karnak began in the center and finished building at the entrances to the enclosure. Finally, our last stop will be visiting the elaborate Luxor Temple. Luxor Temple is unique as it was not built to worship a specific deity but is representative of all kings. Arrive Cairo The Egyptian Museum in Cairo is undergoing it's own makeover as its younger sister, the Grand Egyptian Museum is getting ready to open. While the King Tutankhamun items are in the process of being moved to the newer museum, there is still plenty of things to see here. The Egyptian Museum is home to the wealth of objects including those belonging to Tuya and Yuya, King Tut's grandparents. It is also the new home of more than 2,500 artifacts that were discovered in the royal tombs at Tanis, including the golden mask and collar of King Psusennes I. The Amarna collection featuring items related to Akhenaton and his wife, Nefertiti, are also located here. Tut's golden funerary mask is still here, so visit it before it moves! Stop number two is the citadel of saladin and Mohamed Ali Alabaster Mosque which is located inside the Citadel of Salah El Din. You probably saw the mosque as you came into Cairo as it can be seen from almost any direction coming into the city. This mosque was built during the Ottoman Empire.
